Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder - Is It Really Worth The Hype?

It's a funny one, powder. Getting the balance between cakey overload and 'this does absolutely nothing',  can prove to be a bit of a struggle. In my personal experience, having skin that's on the drier side of things,  99% of the magical makeup prolongers I've tried don't quite give me the results I'm looking for.

But I think the hunt is over. Finally, a powder that's finely milled but does the job, and does it well. Enter the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I mean, with all the hype it receives, why didn't I think of snapping up this baby earlier?

Described as ''an extremely lightweight, sheer and silky setting powder'', its oil-free, light-reflecting formula can be applied in a number of ways without any concern over it highlighting fine lines or imperfections.

Laura Mercier recommend purchasing the accompanying powder puff from the range, however I find using a big fluffy brush allows for a little more control when it comes to the application process. I've also seen the product team up with a damp beauty blender for a lighter coverage under the eye area, so it's pretty diverse!

Whilst the powder may have a price tag of £29, a little seriously goes a long way. I can see this lasting me a good few years, so frankly, when you consider the quality, it's undoubtedly worth it.

But the killer question... does it set your makeup in place for the long-haul? In short, yes.

On a day-to-day basis, I apply my makeup at around 6:30am, and at the earliest, return home at 6pm, so a fair amount of time. Obviously by that point my makeup's not looking quite as fresh, but all in all, it's a lot more evident than it would be without the powder in place.

You can definitely top-up throughout the day should you wish, but it would probably be a little more well received on those with oilier skin types, as I find I can start to look a little too matte.

Another serious perk of the product happens to be the fact that it's translucent. So no matter your skintone, it'll blend perfectly all year round!

If you're in the market for a new setting powder (or like me, struggle due to dry skin), I would highly recommend snapping up a pot for yourself!

  1. I went off powder for a long time, as I didn't think it worked - but I got some of the Vichy Dermablend loose powder and love it! Might have to pick this up next!

  2. I tend to use powder more in the evening if I'm going out as I find it just looks better - I do like Laura Mercier as the powder is a lot finer than others out there so it's really lovely on the skin! :)

By the way - what camera/lens do you use, the photos are absolutely gorgeous!
