Mac Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish

Lightscapade is part of Mac's Mineralize Skinfinish range, and something I'd had my eye on for quite some time. A limited edition product, it is often re-released alongside the various launches from the makeup brand.

In the Spring, Hayley Williams of Paramore fame brought out her collection with Mac, and it was then that I knew Lightscapade needed to be mine. Like Hayley, I'm incredibly fair skinned, which can mean that I often struggle to find makeup that a) flatters my skin-tone and b) doesn't make me look like a tangerine - so I knew that this would be a great addition to my makeup bag.

Described by Mac as "soft candlelit beige with multi-dimensional shimmer", the Skinfinish is a pale white-beige highlighter with a very subtle blue and pink veining. I say the veining is subtle, however the product as a whole is, again, exactly that. I personally think this is a positive, as when using a highlighter you don't really want it too look too over the top.

I wouldn't say Lightscapade is an absolute necessity for your makeup routine, but it is something I really enjoy reaching for. It sits beautifully on the skin and doesn't emphasize pores.

I've heard that it doesn't work as well on tan skin, however there are a number of other shades within the Mineralize range which may be better suited. If you're fair like myself, then one of the slightly darker tones could even be built up and applied as a bronzer - now there's an idea!
